Box Condition Guide (Damaged, Dinged, Mint)
The price we offer for your unused diabetic test strips, sensors, receivers and other supplies depends largely on the condition of the box. This guide shows real examples of mint, dinged, and damaged boxes so you know exactly what to expect before you ship your supplies to The Key 2 Wellbeing. The better the condition, the more we can pay– and a little care when you package your shipment makes a real difference in your payout.
Mint Condition -- Full Price
Mint condition means the box looks like it just came off a pharmacy shelf: sealed, undamaged, and with plenty of time left before the expiration date. Mint condition boxes earn our full quoted price. See what qualifies as “Mint condition” below.
- Box is sealed and unopened
- UPC barcode, lot number, and expiration date are visible.
- No tears, dents, or stains larger than a small mark
- Expiration dates meets our minimum months-out requirement
Dinged Condition-- Slightly Reduced Price
A dinged box has minor cosmetic damage– a small dent, a light scuff, or a faint mark– limited to one side of the box. The barcode, lot number, and expiration date are still fully readable, and the seal is intact. These boxes are still sellable, just at a slightly reduced price.
Damaged Condition-- Reduced Price or Not Accepted
Damaged boxes have more noticeable issues: tears on more than one side, larger stains, a broken or re-glued seal, or a missing label. Some damaged boxes can still be purchased at a reduced price. Boxes that are opened, crushed, or missing required information on the label can’t be accepted. Below is what reduces price further or disqualifies a box:
- Tears, stains, or dents on more than one side
- Broken, re-glued, or missing seal
- Box has been opened or crushed
- Barcode, lot number, or expiration date is missing or unreadable
- Box is past our minimum expiration window
What We Can't Accept
We’re not able to purchase boxes that are opened, crushed, missing, their barcode or expiration date, or that show signs of tampering. If your supplies fall into this category, we’re happy to point you toward donation options instead of asking you to ship them to us for nothing.
How to Protect Your Boxes Before You Ship
Most damage happens in transit, not before you pack. A few habbits make a real difference in the price you’re quoted:
- Leave pharmacy label on, we remove and shred it on our end for your privacy. If worried about your privacy cross out name with marker
- Pack boxes loosely in a sturdy shipping box, never an envelope or padded mailer
- Avoid stacking heavy items directly on top of test strip boxes
- Double check the barcode and expiration date are visible before you seal the box.
